Existing and New Processes for Beneficiation of Indian Iron

10 Citations Metrics Abstract The iron ore industries of India are expected to bring new technologies to cater to the need of the tremendous increase in demand for quality ores for steel making. With the high-grade ores depleting very fast, the focus is on the beneficiation of low-grade resources.This paper attempts to analyse the existing iron ore resources vis-a-vis demand-supply balance of iron ore for the year 2029–30, considering the pros and cons of the existing government policies. With a total resource of 22,487 million tonnes of haematite (Fe2O3) and 10,789 million tonnes of magnetite (Fe3O4), India ranks seventh among theReserves and Resources of Iron Ores of India — A Perspective

This chapter briefly discusses the current scenario of the following: iron ore resources in India, iron ore mining methodology, beneficiation techniques for various ore sizes, beneficiation tests and results for a typical Indian iron ore deposit and the current operating practices for achieving sustainable growth in the iron and steel industry.The State-wise production of iron ore during 2018-19 to 2020-21 (P) and 2020- 21 (April-January) vis-à-vis 2021-22 (April-January) is provided at Table in Annexure.
