Pyroxenite

Pyroxenite is an ultramafic igneous rock consisting essentially of minerals of the pyroxene group, such as augite, diopside, hypersthene, bronzite or enstatite. Pyroxenites are classified into clinopyroxenites, orthopyroxenites, and the websterites which contain both types of pyroxenes (see diagram below). Closely allied to this group are the hornblendites, consisting essentially of hornblende and other amphiboles. The pyroxenes (commonly abbreviated Px) are a group of important rock-forming inosilicate minerals found in many igneous and metamorphic rocks. Pyroxenes have the general formula XY(Si,Al)2O6, where X represents calcium (Ca), sodium (Na), iron (Fe II) or magnesium (Mg) and more rarely zinc, manganese or lithium, and Y represents ions of smaller size, such as chromium (Cr), aluminiumPyroxene

Another component to be discussed is ferrous iron. In nature, Fe 2+ enters any Mg phase to some extent. Because in mantle-derived peridotite, Mg strongly dominates over ferrous iron, and the latter is not much fractionated into a particular Mg–Fe phase, in contrast to Na or Cr, the influence on the phase relations is not severe.Phase Relations in Peridotitic and Pyroxenitic Rocks in the Model

Pictures and Descriptions of Igneous Rock Types ThoughtCo

Igneous rocks are those that form via the process of melting and cooling. If they erupt from volcanoes onto the surface as lava, they are called extrusive rocks.By contrast, Intrusive rocks are formed from magma that cools underground. If the intrusive rock cooled underground but near the surface, it is called subvolcanic or hypabyssal, and Non-ferrous minerals are not iron-based like their ferrous counterparts and are found in chemical combinations. India has an extremely less quantity of non-ferrous metallic minerals except Bauxite. Some examples of such minerals include aluminum, tin, copper, lead, nickel, titanium, zinc, and copper alloys like brass and bronze.Minerals in India List of Major and Minor Minerals in India
